[GAIJIN UPDATE] BABYMETAL releases preview clip from 'LIVE – LEGEND I, D, Z APOCALYPSE'

Japanese idol pop-metal phenomenon BABYMETAL has released a preview clip of their song "Doki-Doki Morning" (recorded live at Shibuya O-EAST in October of 2012 for their live Blu-Ray "LIVE ~ LEGEND I, D, Z APOCALYPSE~") that's scheduled for release later this month.

The clip shows the high-energy stage performance and enthusiastic crowds that have built up BABYMETAL's popularity, allowing them to perform at Japan's LOUD PARK metal festival this year and bringing them to their first overseas solo live show in Singapore in December 2013.

The Limited-Edition Box-Set DVD version was released in Japan last month, and both the DVD and Blu-Ray editions contain three full-length concerts:

the GazettE placed in the top ten of two UK metal charts while the hashtag for their brand new album "BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY" became a worldwide Twitter Trend.

BEAUTIFUL DEFORMITY, released digitally on 23 October in Europe by JPU Records, is the seventh album from the Japanese visual kei veterans. Fans across the globe eagerly awaited its midnight release and excitedly tweeted about it throughout 22 October, leading to #BEAUTIFULDEFORMITY emerging as the top trending topic worldwide on Twitter, as well as making the trending list across several European countries.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Utada Hikaru Returns To Provide Theme Song For Kingdom Hearts III

It has been revealed that Utada Hikaru will still be the one who will provide the theme song for Kingdom Hearts' third sequel after doing so for the past two series with "Simple and Clean"/ "Hikari" for Kingdom Hearts and "Sanctuary"/ "Passion" for Kingdom Hearts II.
This was confirmed by the 30-year-old popular Japanese singer/songwriter's father Teruzane Utada after answering a curious fan on Twitter. Utada's supporters will surely anticipate her new take on this sequel's theme. However, further details have yet to be announced.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Details on DIR EN GREY's new single revealed

The details on DIR EN GREY's new single "Sustain the UNtruth" has been revealed.

"Sustain the UNtruth" will be released on January 22, 2014. This will be the band's first single since "Rinkaku", which was released in December of 2012. It will be released in 3 different versions: Complete Production Edition, Limited Edition, and Regular Edition.

The title track is said to feature a groovy and heavy rhythm with technical guitar and Kyo's expressive voice. For its coupling track, the single will include an acoustic version of "Ruten no Tou" and a live recording of "Gaika, Chinmoku ga Nemuru Koro".

Both the Complete Production Edition and Limited Edition will come with a DVD containing recording footage of "Sustain the UNtruth". The Complete Production Edition DVD will also enclose live footage of 10 songs from their Shibuya Kokaido concert on May 24.

Furthermore, DIR EN GREY will hold a 2-day live called 'DUM SPIRO SPERO' on March 8 and 9th at Nippon Budokan. Advance reservation for tickets will be held via their fan club 'a knot', their mobile site 'DIR EN GREY ONLINE', and their official website.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION & Straightener to hold live concerts in Asia

Rock bands ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and Straightener will be holding live concerts on December 17 in South Korea, on December 20 in Singapore, and on December 22 in Taiwan.

Both ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION and Straightener celebrated their 10th year anniversary this year. For this event, the bands will be playing together with local artists. The concerts will be held at UNIQLO AX in South Korea, Scape Warehouse in Singapore, and Legacy Taipei in Taiwan.

There will also be an official tour just for concert attendees from Japan.

VAMPS is getting ready to hold their live event 'HALLOWEEN PARTY 2013' on October 19th and 20th at Kobe World Memorial Hall, and from October 25th to the 27th at Makuhari Messe. The third line up of artists who will be participating in this event has been revealed.

At this time, it's been announced that yasu (Acid Black Cherry), TERU (GLAY), and TAKURO (GLAY) have been added to the line up. yasu will be appearing at the event on the 19th, 20th, 25th, and 26th, TERU and TAKURO will be appearing on the 27th. They will be appearing as members of the band HALLOWEEN JUNKY ORCHESTRA.

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has been chosen as the 'Ora2 HAMiGAKi Ambassador' for Sunstar's toothpaste brand for women 'Ora2'.

As the ambassador, Kyary will be appearing in various advertisements, such as CMs, billboards, and large displays in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore. This will be Kyary's first time appearing on advertisements outside of Japan.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Main cast members for upcoming 'Patlabor' live-action project revealed

On September 25, a press conference for the live-action project of Oshii Mamoru's big hit anime series, "Mobile Police Patlabor" and "THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR-", was held in Chiba, and the main cast members were revealed.

The anime series depict the efforts of the members of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2, known as "Patlabors," that crack down on criminal robots called "Labors."
The live-action project will be a completely new work as it will be set in Tokyo in 2013 when the "Labors" became a burden due to the time and money cost during the recession. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 1 has already been dismissed, and Division 2 barely exists. It will feature the third generation of Patlabors.

The cast members are Mano Erina (as the protagonist "Izumino Akira"), Fukushi Seiji (as "Shiobara Yuma"), Ota Rina (as "Kasha"), Chiba Shigeru (as "Shiba Shigeo"), and Kakei Toshio (as "Gotoda Keiji").



Oshii, who will serve as the chief director, emphasized that this project is not a remake of the anime series. He commented, "I realized that I had to make something completely different while inheriting the world view of the anime. It is impossible to copy [the anime], so it would have a higher chance to be successful if we make the live-action version with a different theme."

At the press conference, the life-sized (8 meters tall) "Labor" robots that cost several tens of millions of yen for two, were introduced. Director Oshii said, "I always wanted to see how the actual Labor would look. Since it costs too much money, I had no chance to make it in the past." He also revealed that the key to making the live-action adaptation was "how we could get closer to the anime series, and how to face the fans who have stuck with the series for 25 years." 

"The solution to it was to create the third generation. We needed a new world view. Since the activities of the first generation Patlabors were depicted completely in the anime, we made the new 'Section 2.' I thought if I missed this opportunity, I would never be able to make a live-action version," said Oshii.


"THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR-" project will start with a 7-chapter series which will be comprised of 12 episodes (48 minutes long each) and episode 0 (10 minutes long), and they will be released in order starting next April. Then a feature-length film (approximately 100 minutes) will open in theaters in the year 2015. Filming has already begun in June and will finish at the end of December.

Bayangkan ini: ramen penuh darah, yang aneh dan mengerikan disajikan di meja makan Anda.

Bukan berarti hidangan ini adalah campuran darah yang sebenarnya atau bagian tubuh yang membusuk, tapi bagaimana komponen makanannya disiapkanlah yang menciptakan sajian yang tampaknya tidak menggugah selera, yang terinspirasi oleh seri horor Silent Hill produksi Konami.
Berasal dari kemitraan Konami dengan restoran-restoran di Jepang, ramen ini memenuhi tujuannya yang mengintimidasi orang-orang yang berhasrat lemah tapi lucu bagi mereka yang mendambakan makanan yang disajikan dengan “twist mengerikan.”
Bahan dasarnya adalah mie tebal yang dicampur dengan minyak dan pasta miso, yang memberikannya warna gelap dan kekentalan yang lengket. Kemudian tomat matang yang ditempatkan di atasnya, seolah-olah seperti organ berdarah yang menonjol dari jeroan yang membusuk dalam mangkuk.

Dan jika porsi hidangan itu sendiri tidak memberikan kesan yang kuat, aduk tomat untuk memunculkan daging kemerahan yang tebal hingga mengalir keluar dan perlahan-lahan menetes ke mie di bawahnya.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] PEOPLE IN THE BOX 4th Album Release "WEATHER REPORT"

Japanese rock band People In the Box who have been rocking Japan since around 2007-08 have announced the release of their 4th album titled "Weather Report" due to drop on 2013.10.13 in one unique edition which includes one track, consisting of 21 tracks (total of 70 min.) for a cost of 2,095yen (2,200yen Tax incl.)US$ 21.07 . The songs on this album have not yet been revealed so look forward to a very interesting compilation. The album can already be pre-ordered here.
The band will be playing at Shinkiba Studio Coast in Japan on September 30th, 2013 so if you are in Japan go check out this talented band.
The band has released a new MV promoting this new release with one single revealed from the album which translates as "Hot Air Balloon" (kikyuu), including lyrics in the description which are in Japanese, and can be viewed below. What do you think of this song?

NICO Touches The Walls have announced the release of their first Best Album on February, 5th. A title and a track list will be revealed soon.
Next year (2014) NICO will celebrate their 10th Anniversary. The forthcoming release will consist of the most memorable songs in the band’s history.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Girugamesh's Satoshi Forms New Band "REDMAN" and Announces First Release

Yesterday Girugamesh's vocal Satoshi made a surprising announcement: He has formed a new band called "REDMAN"!
The band consists of five members:
Vocal: Ishikawa Satoshi (girugamesh)
Guitar: Sonoki Rihito (ex-SPLAY)
Guitar: Sugihara Ryou (towalens)
Bass: Yoshioka Souichirou) (towalens)
Drums: Ookuma Keito (ex-Ruvie, My Hearts Breaking Even, THE HEROES SYNDICATE)
Their first live will be held at Nagoya ell FITS ALL on August 28th and they've already announced their first release! It will be a single titled "Challenge the GAME" that will drop on November 13th and comes in 2 types. The Limited Edition costs 1890 Yen and comes with a DVD featuring the PV for the lead track, the Regular Edition costs 1260 Yen and is CD-only. Moreover, it will be used as ending theme of an anime titled "yuu☆gi☆ou zexal".

[GAIJIN UPDATE] THE BAWDIES To Release New Single “THE SEVEN SEAS”

A fourthsome band THE BAWDIES, well known by their theme song “ROCK ME BABY” to Japanese drama “Hungry!”, has announced the release of the new single “THE SEVEN SEAS”.
The upcoming single will be out on November, 20th and be released in 2 versions. The Limited Edition will consist of photo book of 40 pages, the content of which will include the photos from the forthcoming PV “THE SEVEN SEAS”. The cover of the book will contain the images of all 40 pages.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] SPYAIR makes Paris crazy with European live debut while new album sells out

SPYAIR once again prove that they're one of the Japan's hottest new musical exports as the pop-rock quartet made the people of Paris go crazy with their European live debut in France's capital on September 21. The band, whose brand new album MILLION was released this week (September 22) across the UK and Europe, was invited to perform in Paris for Tokyo Crazy Kawaii, a new touring festival that showcases what's currently hot in Japan to the world.


All expectations were smashed as the packed crowd filling the open air stage at the Parc Floral venue rushed to grab a copy of SPYAIR's new CD, available at the event a day before release. All copies sold out within minutes of going on sale.

Entertainment from Japan has been gaining major success in Paris, where events such as Japan Expo have been reported to draw crowds in excess of 200,000.

SPYAIR's vocalist IKE comments, 'We came here to see the scene with our own eyes and see if it's true. Anime, manga and video games from Japan have already been accepted here, but music? I wasn't so sure… but wow, their acceptance of us blew me away! What an audience! What a country!"

Bass player MOMIKEN adds, 'This is just the first step. We hope to be back in Europe with our own headliner show next time!'

'MILLION' is out now across the UK and Europe through JPU Records. The physical release contains three exclusive bonus tracks and includes several of SPYAIR's songs from some of anime's biggest franchised (Bleach, Gundam, Gintama). It also features an additional booklet with all lyrics translated into English as well as Romaji.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Yuzu to sing theme song for new 'HUNTER×HUNTER' movie

 

It's been revealed that Yuzu will be singing the theme song for the anime movie 'HUNTER×HUNTER THE MOVIE -The LAST MISSION-' which will open in theaters this December.

Yuzu has provided their song "REASON" for 'HUNTER×HUNTER THE MOVIE Phantom Rouge' in January and they are also currently in charge of the tv anime's theme song. For the new song, they will once again collaborate with Maeyamada Kenichi. It's titled "Hyouriittai" and it's an uptempo number that was written especially for the movie and will also be used as the tv anime's new ending theme song.

'HUNTER×HUNTER THE MOVIE -The LAST MISSION-' is the second installment film based on Toyashi Yoshihiro's manga 'HUNTER×HUNTER'. It will focus on the history of the Hunters Association as well as a major incident that involves all the Hunters.

VAMPS announce U.S. shows following their European tour!!! Their overseas debut album “SEX BLOOD ROCK N’ ROLL” to be released on Sept 25th (in Japan)!!
Having recently added an extra London show to their upcoming European tour, VAMPS have just announced the dates for their long awaited U.S. shows.
Announced today were two shows, to be held on Dec 4th (Wed) at the House Of Blues, Los Angeles, and on Dec 8th (Sun) at the Roseland Ballroom, New York.
Both venues are famous for hosting several major artists in the past.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Royz Announces New Single "LILIA" and 2nd Asia Tour

Royz announced at their tour final at Zepp Tokyo today, September 23rd, that a brand new single will be released next year and that they will go on their 2nd Asia Tour!
The band's 9th single is titled "LILIA" and will drop next year on January 15th. It comes in four different types: Limited Edition Type A and B come with a DVD and include 2 songs. The DVD of Type A includes PV and Making, DVD of Type B includes multi angle PV and live scene of their 4th anniversary live on September 28th. Each type costs 1890 Yen. Regular Edition Type C and D cost 1575 Yen each and include 3 tracks and the Karaoke versions of these tracks.
Moreover, they will go on nationwide tour a few days after the release of this single. The tour final will be held at Shinkiba Studio Coast on April 29th.
For Asian fans it doesn't end here! If you missed their lives in Asia this year you'll get another chance in January! Royz will hold 5 lives in Asia titled "Red Desire "LILIA"":

[GAIJIN UPDATE] AKQUA Loses One Member

Visual Kei band AKQUA announced that guitarist Sera has left the band yesterday.
Only two months ago the members of AKQUA started their activities but they've already had some trouble to deal with. On their way home from their first live in July bassist Yua and guitarist Sera were involved in a traffic accident but fortunately they weren't severely injured. Yesterday, on September 21st, the band held their second live and again there was bad news. All of a sudden guitarist Sera announced that this live will be his last live as member of AKQUA. His reason for departing from the band is his family. He stated that it's difficult for him to continue with band activities due to the current situation at home. No more details were given.
The band is very sorry for this sudden announcement. They decided to continue as four-member band for now and hope for the support of their fans.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] VAMPS reveal additional artists for their Halloween event

VAMPS' live event 'HALLOWEEN PARTY 2013' will be held on October 19 and 20 at Kobe World Memorial Hall, and from October 25 to the 27th at Makuhari Messe. They have revealed the 2nd lineup of artists who will be participating at the event.

Kishidan will appear at the event on the 19th, and Nogizaka46 will appear on the 25th and 27th. It will be the first time for both parties to participate in 'HALLOWEEN PARTY'.

Additionally, some of the participating artists for the special session band HALLOWEEN JUNKY ORCHESTRA, who will be appearing at each event, were announced. They are kyo (D'ERLANGER), Aoki Ryuji, and Hitsugi (Nightmare).

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Ruhara Renji to graduate from FUDANJUKU with new single 'Dansou Revolution'

Tall, striking, orange-clad manga and game otaku Ruhara Renji will graduate with FUDANJUKU's latest single, "Dansou Revolution" (released on Sept. 18).

A member of the popular cross-dressing Japanese idol group since 2008, Ruhara left this summer's national tour "FUDANJUKU Ranbu TOUR 2013 -12 locations nation-wide Ichi Dozen Time-" due to physical illness and was hospitalized for some time.

Previously, Ruhara announced his graduation from the group, and expressed his feelings on FUDANJUKU's official blog.

"Hello. This is Ruhara Renji.
I have decided to graduate from FUDANJUKU.
Everyone, thank you so much for supporting me for a long time.
I am so much better now. I am well enough to have no problem in my daily life.
However, the doctor has stopped me from strenuous physical activity for my current condition, and the situation makes it very difficult for me to perform at live shows.

I can still have a normal life, but this situation of "not being able to participate in live shows" equals to losing the core essence of my participation in FUDANJUKU. I've made this decision after much thought, and these are my true feelings."

Ruhara was absent from the filming of FUDANJUKU's music video for "Dansou Revolution", but participated in the recording and is featured on the single's jacket art.

Ruhara was popular with FUDANJUKU fans from the start after surviving a televised, multi-stage audition.




All members of FUDANJUKU are otaku of various kinds, and Ruhara's revealed himself to own over 13000 volumes of manga, over 7000 games, and over 1000 limited edition anime DVDs. Often playing the part of the group's brooding bad-boy, his comedy contributions and strong stage energy will be missed.

[GAIJIN IN UPDATE] DIR EN GREY to release new single + 2-day live at Nippon Budokan

DIR EN GREY will release their new single "Sustain the UNtruth" in January of 2014. They will also hold a 2-day live called 'DUM SPIRO SPERO' on March 8th and 9th at Nippon Budokan.

The band recently kicked off their tour 'TOUR2013 GHOUL' on September 18th. They excited the fans with this news after their performance. This will mark DIR EN GREY's first single since releasing "Rinkaku" in December of 2012. More details will be revealed later.
