[Gaijin Update] T.M. Revolution to release SPECIAL album for OTAKON 2013

To commemorate T.M. Revolution's return appearance at Otakon 2013 , Takanori Nishikawa has just announced that he will release a special edition compilation album titled "Geisha Boy -Anime Song Experience-" with songs that are featured with his several anime tie in's. There is one small catch, only a limited number of CDs will be produced and be sold exclusively at Otakon, which the price has yet to be announced.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] GHOSE Announces 13 New CDs

Neither is it a typing error nor did you misread the headline. Visual Kei band GHOSE really announced the release of 13 new CDs!
Unfortunately 12 of those CDs will be live-limited singles that are scheduled to be released at their lives from September 2013 to August 2014.
The last one of those 13 releases will be an album titled "keibyou". It will hit the stores in September 2014 and the band already revealed that it will include 16 songs.
Those CDs will be released after the departure of guitarist noi who left the band on July 27th. GHOSE will perform with a support guitarist from now on.
What do you think about all those CDs? Will you be able to get your hands on one or more of those live-limited singles?

[GAIJIN UPDATE] EXILE and GLAY to hold a two-man live for TV Asahi's Dream Festival

It's been revealed that EXILE and GLAY will be holding a two-man live on September 19 at Yoyogi National Gymnasium. 
They will perform for the 'Premium Night' as a part of TV Asahi's 'Dream Festival 2013', which will be held from September 21st to the 23rd to commemorate its 55th anniversary. EXILE and GLAY formerly collaborated for their single, "SCREAM", back in 2005. 

The event's official website will open pre-order applications at 12:00 pm on July 21.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Film jepang pertama berlatar Bali, dibintangi Machiko Ono & Hiroshi Tamaki

Bedasarkan situs Eiga, Shinichi Tsutsumi, Maschiko Ono dan Hiroshi Tamaki akan membintangi film Kamisama wa Bali ni Iru (God is in Bali). film ini juga adalah film jepang pertama yang berlokasi di Bali, Indonesia.

Proses pemfilman akan mengambil tempat di Bali selama sebulan mulai akhir Juli ini, sebelum diproses kembali di Jepang.

Cerita film ini bedasarkan buku karangan Sho Kuroiwa yang berjudul “Dekasegeba Daifugou”. Film ini berkisah tentang seorang wanita bernama Sachiko (Ono) yang melarikan diri ke Bali setelah kegagalan bisnis Konkatsunya (Pencarian jodoh pernikahan). Tanpa diduga ia bertemu dan terinspirasi dengan seorang milyuner yang kerap dipanggil "Aniki" (Shinichi Tsutsumi), yang merupakan sosok karakter yang bedasarkan entreprenur Jepang asli bernama Maruo Takatoshi yang sukses di Bali.

Hiroshi Tamaki akan berpean sebagai seorang mantan dokter bernama Ryu yang berubah hidupnya setelah bertemu Aniki.

“Kamisama wa Bali ni Iru” akan dirilis di Jepang tahun depan.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Ikimonogakari Meraih Tempat No.1 Dalam Oricon's Weekly Chart Dengan Album Baru Mereka

Album ke-6 dari unit Populer Ikimonogakari, "I" (dirilis 24 Juli), terjual sebanyak 112.000 kopi dalam minggu pertama dan telah meraih nomor 1 di chart album Oricon pada Agustus minggu ke 5.


Sejak merilis album mereka "My Song Your Song" (dirilis Desember 2008), Ikimonogakari telah menduduki puncak chart album 6 kali berturut-turut. [GAIJIN UPDATE] Hamasaki Ayumi wraps up her 15th anniversary tour

On July 28th, singer Hamasaki Ayumi wrapped up her 15th anniversary tour (28 shows, 12 locations) at Yoyogi Daiichi Taiikukan. 

For this tour, fans were asked to vote for their favorites songs out of a total of 241 she's released since her 1998 debut to her latest album, "LOVE again". On this day, she sang 19 out of the top 50 as well as a new song called "Tell All", which she wrote to commemorate her 15th anniversary.

The 12,000 fans were very excited to hear hit song after another. Hamasaki also fascinated the crowd by singing in a 6 meter (20 feet) high 300 liter (80 gallon) glass pool. 

During the first encore song, "teddy bear", Hamasaki was moved to tears. In a choked voice, she expressed, "My 15 years was given to me by everybody. Thank you."

Finally, she closed she show saying, "Please keep smiling until I see you again."

[GAIJIN UPDATE] DAIGO makes a one-night comeback as 'DAIGO☆STARDUST'

On July 26th, rock band BREAKERZ vocalist DAIGO held a solo live at Shibuya Kokaido.

DAIGO made a one-night comeback as 'DAIGO☆STARDUST', his solo act from 2003 to 2007. He took the stage in his outfit from 6 years ago and said, "There are a lot more people in the audience than when I was active (as DAIGO☆STARDUST)."

DAIGO created 'DAIGO☆STARDUST' as the prince of rock who came from the stars. He reflected on those days saying, "I did my best trying to make everything 'spacey', but I really became 'stardust'."

On this night, he performed a total of 19 songs including his debut single, "MARIA", and his new song, "Mugen∞REBIRTH".

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Porno Graffiti To Celebrate 15th Anniversary With Two Singles

Porno Graffiti will celebrate this year their 14th anniversary but they are already planning to celebrate the next anniversary since major debut with two consecutive single release scheduled for September 11th and October 6th 2014.
Both will have a regular and a limited edition which will include a DVD containing special shots from their oversea events:
Anime Expo 2013 - Los Angeles, U.S.A, July 6th
Pentaport Rock Festival 2013 - Incheon, Korea, August 2nd
Formoz Festival 2013 - Taipei, Taiwan, August 4th
No more details have been revealed yet, but is said that their upcoming single will mix retro rock sounds from the '80's and some elements of modern rock.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] SCREW - "Red Thread" Song + Video Review

ScReW have recently toured for their 7 year Anniversary and are releasing a DVD of the Tour Final held at Shibuya-AX on July 24th. On the 10th of July they released a new single entitled Red Thread. The new song is also quite different from Teardrop (released on February 6th). Rather then being a ballad, Red Thread is vibrant and energetic with darker undertones, which reflects the sound SCREW has been promoting for 7 years. A notable aspect of this song is the bass. It's so loud, and that's a good thing. The bass has a distorted and fat tone, which which reflects the nature of this track perfectly. Kazuki and Manabu share the same distorted guitar tone, which has the same depth as the bass tone. They also do a great job of harmonizing their solos together, and it's obvious that they have evolved from a musical standpoint. Jin's drumming keep the heavy groove pulsing through this song, and the random bursts of double bass drum fills fits well with the rest of the song. It's extremely catchy and ScReW do a perfect job of blending melody with aggressive riffs. Byo's vocals are standard and their isn't much to say about them except that they're decent and not overbearing. Unfortunately I've been unable to find the lyrics for this song, and as this review is being written I am still looking. Red Thread seems awfully short, which is probably my only complaint.

As for a Promotional Video, it is your standard "Band in the warehouse" scenario, with ScReW performing Red Thread. I am surprised by the lack of Kazuki in this video, since he the lead guitarist and band leader. Much cannot be said about this video, and I'm a bit dissapointed by the lack of this PV's originality. So mcuh could have been done. Since Red Thread is a great song, it should be accompanied by an awesome music video. However, the video lacks any kind of uniqueness or originality. 

In the end, ScReW have managed to release something that sounds familiar, but it also keeps the bands dark and heavy atmosphere. If you are a fan of ScReW, or just modern Visual Kei in general. I highly recommend purchasing this single.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] baroque Down One?

If you visited baroque's website you might have noticed that the profile section and main picture show only two of the band's members: Vocalist Ryo and guitarist Kei.
The question is: What happened to guitarist Akira? There's no official statement or comments of the members yet but it seems like Akira has left the band.
Only last year the band had a hard time when bandmember Bansaku disappeared all of a sudden. We only know that a friend of Bansaku told the band that the bassist wants to withdraw. Now it seems like baroque lost another member.
If they posts an official statement we'll let you know!

[GAIJIN UPDATE] YOSHIKI to hold his first solo live in the United States

YOSHIKI will be performing at the event, 'AN EVENING WITH YOSHIKI', on August 26 at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. This will be his first solo live in the United States.

At the event, YOSHIKI will perform tracks off of his new album, "YOSHIKI CLASSICAL", which will make its world release in September, as well as numbers from his band X JAPAN. There will also be a talk session and a Q&A segment.

In the past, prominent artists such as Brian Wilson, Ringo Starr, and Dave Matthews have performed at the Grammy Museum. YOSHIKI commented, "I am very honored to hold my first solo performance in the United States at such a renown place."

[GAIJIN UPDATE] THE VELVET announced the release of their first DVD! It's titled "nude" and is scheduled to drop on September 8th.

The release that costs 1575 Yen includes a DVD featuring PVs and a small booklet with 4 pages. The two PVs that are included on the release are titled "nude" and "kansensuru android". If you're attending their one man live at Takadanobaba AREA on September 1st you'll get the chance to buy the DVD in advance!
