[GAIJIN UPDATE] More artists for VAMPS' Halloween event revealed

VAMPS is getting ready to hold their live event 'HALLOWEEN PARTY 2013' on October 19th and 20th at Kobe World Memorial Hall, and from October 25th to the 27th at Makuhari Messe. The third line up of artists who will be participating in this event has been revealed.

At this time, it's been announced that yasu (Acid Black Cherry), TERU (GLAY), and TAKURO (GLAY) have been added to the line up. yasu will be appearing at the event on the 19th, 20th, 25th, and 26th, TERU and TAKURO will be appearing on the 27th. They will be appearing as members of the band HALLOWEEN JUNKY ORCHESTRA.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Kyary Pamyu Pamyu chosen as 'Ora2 HAMiGAKi Ambassador'

Kyary Pamyu Pamyu has been chosen as the 'Ora2 HAMiGAKi Ambassador' for Sunstar's toothpaste brand for women 'Ora2'.

As the ambassador, Kyary will be appearing in various advertisements, such as CMs, billboards, and large displays in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Singapore. This will be Kyary's first time appearing on advertisements outside of Japan.

A person in charge of Sunstar commented, "Kyary Pamyu Pamyu-san leads the KAWAii culture that Japan takes pride in. She has succeeded her world tour, appeared at festivals in Thailand and Taiwan, and has tremendous support from young women around the world who admire KAWAii culture. Because brushing your teeth is an everyday routine, Ora2 wanted to create a new value of 'fun' and 'cute' in order to spread the new culture of brushing your teeth to young women in Japan and throughout Asia. We felt that Kyary Pamyu Pamyu-san was perfect to become the ambassador."

The CMs are scheduled to air starting October 10.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] Main cast members for upcoming 'Patlabor' live-action project revealed

On September 25, a press conference for the live-action project of Oshii Mamoru's big hit anime series, "Mobile Police Patlabor" and "THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR-", was held in Chiba, and the main cast members were revealed.

The anime series depict the efforts of the members of Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 2, known as "Patlabors," that crack down on criminal robots called "Labors."
The live-action project will be a completely new work as it will be set in Tokyo in 2013 when the "Labors" became a burden due to the time and money cost during the recession. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Special Vehicle Section 2, Division 1 has already been dismissed, and Division 2 barely exists. It will feature the third generation of Patlabors.

The cast members are Mano Erina (as the protagonist "Izumino Akira"), Fukushi Seiji (as "Shiobara Yuma"), Ota Rina (as "Kasha"), Chiba Shigeru (as "Shiba Shigeo"), and Kakei Toshio (as "Gotoda Keiji").



Oshii, who will serve as the chief director, emphasized that this project is not a remake of the anime series. He commented, "I realized that I had to make something completely different while inheriting the world view of the anime. It is impossible to copy [the anime], so it would have a higher chance to be successful if we make the live-action version with a different theme."

At the press conference, the life-sized (8 meters tall) "Labor" robots that cost several tens of millions of yen for two, were introduced. Director Oshii said, "I always wanted to see how the actual Labor would look. Since it costs too much money, I had no chance to make it in the past." He also revealed that the key to making the live-action adaptation was "how we could get closer to the anime series, and how to face the fans who have stuck with the series for 25 years." 

"The solution to it was to create the third generation. We needed a new world view. Since the activities of the first generation Patlabors were depicted completely in the anime, we made the new 'Section 2.' I thought if I missed this opportunity, I would never be able to make a live-action version," said Oshii.


"THE NEXT GENERATION -PATLABOR-" project will start with a 7-chapter series which will be comprised of 12 episodes (48 minutes long each) and episode 0 (10 minutes long), and they will be released in order starting next April. Then a feature-length film (approximately 100 minutes) will open in theaters in the year 2015. Filming has already begun in June and will finish at the end of December.

[GAIJIN HIBURAN] Ramen “Silent Hill” dari Jepang, bukan untuk yang lemah jantung

Bayangkan ini: ramen penuh darah, yang aneh dan mengerikan disajikan di meja makan Anda.

Bukan berarti hidangan ini adalah campuran darah yang sebenarnya atau bagian tubuh yang membusuk, tapi bagaimana komponen makanannya disiapkanlah yang menciptakan sajian yang tampaknya tidak menggugah selera, yang terinspirasi oleh seri horor Silent Hill produksi Konami.
Berasal dari kemitraan Konami dengan restoran-restoran di Jepang, ramen ini memenuhi tujuannya yang mengintimidasi orang-orang yang berhasrat lemah tapi lucu bagi mereka yang mendambakan makanan yang disajikan dengan “twist mengerikan.”
Bahan dasarnya adalah mie tebal yang dicampur dengan minyak dan pasta miso, yang memberikannya warna gelap dan kekentalan yang lengket. Kemudian tomat matang yang ditempatkan di atasnya, seolah-olah seperti organ berdarah yang menonjol dari jeroan yang membusuk dalam mangkuk.

Dan jika porsi hidangan itu sendiri tidak memberikan kesan yang kuat, aduk tomat untuk memunculkan daging kemerahan yang tebal hingga mengalir keluar dan perlahan-lahan menetes ke mie di bawahnya.

Tapi jangan ragu lagi, karena ramen ini secara visual tidak menarik namun sedap di selera Anda, dengan rasa asin dari pasta miso dan bumbu “umami” dari dagingnya.

[GAIJIN UPDATE] PEOPLE IN THE BOX 4th Album Release "WEATHER REPORT"

Japanese rock band People In the Box who have been rocking Japan since around 2007-08 have announced the release of their 4th album titled "Weather Report" due to drop on 2013.10.13 in one unique edition which includes one track, consisting of 21 tracks (total of 70 min.) for a cost of 2,095yen (2,200yen Tax incl.)US$ 21.07 . The songs on this album have not yet been revealed so look forward to a very interesting compilation. The album can already be pre-ordered here.
The band will be playing at Shinkiba Studio Coast in Japan on September 30th, 2013 so if you are in Japan go check out this talented band.
The band has released a new MV promoting this new release with one single revealed from the album which translates as "Hot Air Balloon" (kikyuu), including lyrics in the description which are in Japanese, and can be viewed below. What do you think of this song?

[GAIJIN UPDATE] NICO Touches The Walls To release Best Album

NICO Touches The Walls have announced the release of their first Best Album on February, 5th. A title and a track list will be revealed soon.
Next year (2014) NICO will celebrate their 10th Anniversary. The forthcoming release will consist of the most memorable songs in the band’s history.
On September 29th, NICO’s every month’s TV program “NICO jyan! ~NICO Touches the Walls meets JAMBORiii~” will celebrate a one year of regular broadcasting. The program starts from 8:00 pm (Japanese time) on web channel Jamboriii station. Don’t miss it!
